Hi Ian thanks for the info. Went to Lindos Rhodes 2 years ago spent a fortune on mozzie repellent and no trouble with mozzies, don't want to waste my money again that's why I brought it up.

Thanks again

HI Jeff We are going to Beach House 1 in September. We have stayed at The Paradise Apartments just next door, and yes you will definitely need mosquito repellent, they are quite a nuisance as there is a salt lake in Alykes, I recommend you buy a repellent that contains "DEET" this will stop any bites etc if you want to contact the owners try vikkipat@otenet.gr Vikki & Spiros are the owners and Vikki will answer any questions you may have. We would highly recommend the Greek night thats run from the central booking office in Alykes center, you go up the mountains on the road train, its such fun.

Hi,
Starting to get things together ready for my Hol in a few weeks can anybody tell me if there is

Air Conditioning, Safe, Electric Plug Adapters, Hair Dryer (not that I have had any to dry for 30 years), & what are the self catering facilities, also is there any need to bring mosquito repellent and a torch?

I know I have asked this before but people have been there over the past few weeks so if anyone has ony other suggestionson what I may need to take it woud be appreciated.

Would mind hearing about some things to do, excursions etc.

Thanks  again

- Just returned from two fantastic weeks staying in the 2 bedroomed apartment at Beach House 2 - it was wonderful. The apartment is fantastic and run by the lively and lovely Spiros and Vikki, who also own the great Virago bar. Was very impressed by meeting so many people who have been returning for many, many years. The nearby Paradise Hotel was great too for their sunbeds, pool and pool bar. And opposite is the Apollo Taverna with lovely food. Further along the road we found the Palm Tree 2 beach bar, run by Lisa (from England) - a firm favourite place for stepping out into the sea across the soft sand and a very friendly welcome. Visitors must go on the dotto train - it's fanastic value and a great ride out to a quaint rural museum, tiny church and traditional Greek taverna - we returned there later in the holiday for the best Greek night I have ever been on (and usually I give them a miss).Smile

It appears that Thomas Cook have removed Beach House, and the Sea View from their web site. This is a great shame as they are both fantastic apts.
However never fear. You can book both of these at Holiday Hypermarket, Travel Supermarket,
or Co-Op travel.
I have stayed at both locations and have  enjoyed both. This June we will be staying et the Sea View.
Just don't forget to pop in at the Virago bar and see Vikki, and crazy Spiros. It's the best bar in Alykes. I promis you won't be dissapointed.

We stayed in Beach House during Jul/Aug 2008 and I think Beach House 1 has the sea view.

Beach House1&2 is located between The Virago Bar & sea if you look on this site's map.

No real need for a torch in my opinion.

Mozzies weren't a problem when we were there but take mozzie spray just in case.

It's a pebble beach by Beach House but sand approx. 200m away.  The sea is shallow and did see one or two very small fish.  It cost us between 5&7 Euros for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella in 2008.  Nice beach bars.

The bars are ok for a quite drink, you won't find a rave!  We didn't find any live music which was a shame.

We stayed for 2 weeks and didn't find a bad taverna.

All in all it was a very good holiday.

Enjoy!

Right I now I've got 9 months to wait but Christmas is over, it's a New Year so thought it's time to start to get excited.
I have booked to stay at Beach house2 in early September, (actually booked it last October), I have read nothing but good things about the place and owners but hoped I could get info on what the place/town is like?
Read things like " need to bring a torch" for the walk back at night, why?? I know it's dark but ....  And it near salt marshes so are mozzies a problem? Yeah I know I'm a bit premature with all this but just coudn't hold it back any longer.
Also wonder what the bay was like for snorkelling and if there were any good coves near by, where about the Beach House was on the Alykes map, is there a view of the sea from beach house 2. Just general things.
Anything would be appreciated!

Thanks
